<SPAN CLASS="lt"><PRE ID="original">This dataset show landslide susceptibility for Puerto Rico, Vieques and Culebra Island.  The original paper map was published by Watson Monroe, USGS 1979.  The publication states also that almost all slopes greater than 50 percent have high risk of landsliding.  Due to limitations of that time, these areas were not mapped.  Now this dataset provides the areas on which the slopes exceed 50 percent.</PRE></SPAN><BR />

<I>Process description: </I>Addition of slopes exceeding 50 percent:  Slopes were derived from an existing Digital Elevation Model taken from CRIM Basemap project.  Slope was computed using percentage.  The resulting slope raster dataset was imported into Manifold System v 7.  Manifold was used to extract slopes exceeding 50%.  Then a vector dataset was produced in this software holding the desired slope range.  This vector dataset was then exported to a shapefile using this software.<BR />
